The Society of Women Artists will hold its 161st Open Annual Exhibition at Mall Galleries, London in a few weeks time.
For Hampshire artist Paula Mitchell, this is a proud moment as a first time exhibiting artist of this prestigious society.
The 161st SWA Open Exhibition is held at the Mall Galleries, London SW1. The work is on display from 6th-11th September 2022 but will also be available to view online.
Every year, the Society of Women Artists invite members and non members to submit new art and selects the best for their annual exhibition
This carefully curated selection of work represents some of the finest contemporary art seen in the UK. The diverse collection of art covers a range of media and subjects created by a range of artists from well known with international reputations to talented newcomers.
The SWA seeks works of the highest standard within its specific field and continues to promote women artists and prides itself on the diverse nature of the work.

“I was under-prepared for the emotion I would experience when the person appeared in my strokes of oil paint in this work.
This is an important portrait in my career as a portrait artist and one I am proud to have exhibited as part of the 2022 SWA annual exhibition”
Paula Mitchell was thrilled to have her work selected following the initial application and pre-selection process. As a female artist, she has a developing career in portrait painting so her participation in this years SWA exhibition for the first time really is a great honour.
Paula has exhibited with the Royal Society of British Artists in 2021, receiving two society awards for her work Solent Sparkle. Limited edition prints are available of this work.
